On March 4th, Sony launched the PS VR2 headset last year, priced at 4,499 yuan in the Chinese market. This headset supports gameplay by connecting to PS5 but has not achieved good results in the market due to the limited availability of VR games.
According to earlier reports, Sony claimed at the end of last month that they are testing the capability of PS VR2 to access PC games. It is expected that PS VR2 will support PC SteamVR games later this year.
However, the third-party SteamVR driver, iVRy, has taken the lead. The developers claim to have 'successfully broken the final driver barrier of PS VR2' and expect to make the PS VR2 headset compatible with PC SteamVR headsets this month, albeit with partial compatibility for AMD graphics cards.
iVRy mentioned that currently, users need to purchase dedicated DP-AUX hardware to obtain "the same as PS5" 6DOF headset tracking capabilities (2000Hz IMU and 60Hz SLAM). The price for the related hardware is yet to be determined, and the initial hardware availability will be open for purchase to Patreon users of the project.
