On March 24th, according to CCTV reports, Apple CEO Cook stated at the China Development Senior Executive Forum 2024 Annual Meeting that the Apple Vision Pro will be launched in the Chinese market within this year, and the company is continuously increasing its investment in research and development in China.
Vision Pro was launched at the Apple Worldwide Developers Conference in June last year, with a starting price of $3,499 (approximately 25,333 RMB). It officially hit the US market on February 2nd and has not been introduced to other markets so far.
On March 12th, Apple announced the expansion of its application research laboratory in China, including enhancing the capabilities of its research center in Shanghai and opening a new application research laboratory in Shenzhen later this year. This move aims to deepen cooperation with local suppliers and strengthen the testing and research capabilities for products such as iPhone, iPad, and Apple Vision Pro.
Apple also mentioned that the company has invested over 1 billion yuan in its application research laboratories and stated that this investment will continue to grow.
It is worth mentioning that, as reported by "Science and Technology Innovation Board Daily" some time ago, Apple has issued recruitment notices for the Chinese mainland market for the positions of Experience Experts in sales and business development for the Apple Vision Pro. According to the job description, they will be responsible for introducing the features of Apple Vision Pro and conducting customized demonstrations, with the job location being in Beijing.
On the Apple official website's job opportunities page, when searching for "Vision Pro," there are multiple related job postings, including Hardware Systems Engineers, Product Design Engineers, and others. Among them, the posting uploaded on March 21 is for a "Briefing Experience Specialist," whose job responsibilities include Vision Pro sales and business development. The job location is in Beijing, with a weekly workload of 40 hours.
On the Apple official website, they also provide a complete description for this position. Applicants are required to have at least 5 years of experience in technical sales or customer-facing business technology solutions, excellent presentation and interpersonal communication skills, strong social skills, and familiarity with VR or AR technology is preferred. A bachelor's degree or equivalent is required. The job responsibilities include product feature and solution demonstrations, providing sales support, listening to customer feedback and providing it to the development team, among others.
The report also cited two informed sources, stating that the Apple Vision Pro will be launched in mainland China in April. One source mentioned that Apple has been undergoing the necessary approval processes for the domestic launch of the Apple Vision Pro since last year, similar to the regulations for the domestic launch of Apple iPhones. In comparison to devices sold overseas, the content of the domestically launched Apple Vision Pro has been adjusted to comply with domestic regulations. Due to factors such as taxes and fees, the selling price of the domestically launched Apple Vision Pro is expected to be higher than that in the international market.
