On April 17th, following the previous launch of the Office series apps for Apple's mixed reality headset Vision Pro, Microsoft today released a native OneNote app for visionOS.
A Microsoft product manager confirmed this news in a blog post. According to Microsoft, OneNote will leverage Apple Vision Pro's spatial computing capabilities to offer an 'infinite canvas' and can be displayed side by side with other Microsoft apps that have already been launched on this platform, such as Word, Excel, etc. OneNote is a popular note-taking application from Microsoft.
Microsoft stated that the visionOS version 'has many of the same features as the iPad version of OneNote,' including taking notes, creating digital notebooks, highlighting important notes, creating to-do list tags, using password protection for notes, syncing to OneDrive cloud storage, and sharing notes with others.
Of course, the OneNote app for visionOS has been specially optimized to fully leverage the hardware advantages of Apple Vision Pro. Users can choose to operate it with gestures or through a Bluetooth-connected keyboard and trackpad. Microsoft also confirmed that future updates will include support for Copilot and two-factor authentication.
Since the release of Apple Vision Pro, Microsoft has been one of the active vendors providing visionOS apps for it. Currently, users can find apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams in the visionOS App Store. The newly added OneNote app has also officially landed in the visionOS App Store.
