On April 19th, according to data miner Lunayian on the X platform, it was revealed that Meta will introduce a travel mode in the Quest v65 software update. This feature is said to be similar to the travel mode in Apple's Vision Pro headset,This will allow users to use the Quest headset normally in environments like airplanes or trains.。
Currently, Quest headsets primarily use built-in accelerometer sensors for positioning. As a result, when users wear Quest headsets in environments like airplanes or trains, the VR content can feel "floaty" due to the motion of the vehicle.
In response to this, Apple's approach with the Vision Pro is to introduce a travel mode based on pure visual recognition for the headset. In this mode, the built-in accelerometer sensors are disabled, and a pure visual detection method is used to maintain scene positioning. It is expected that Meta's upcoming feature will adopt a similar design.
