According to news on May 15, at Google’s I/O developer conference held today,Project Astra was announced and showcased, with a surprise reveal of AR glasses.
In the video demonstration, the presenter asked Gemini: "Do you remember where you saw my glasses?" Gemini responded: "Yes, I remember. Your glasses are on the table, next to the Apple ".
The presenter picked up the glasses, put them on, and then asked the AI more questions about what they were looking at. Apparently there's a camera on the device to help it understand its surroundings, and we also saw some sort of interface with a waveform moving to indicate it's listening. Attached are the screenshots below:
Judging from the video, the glasses also feature at least a microphone and speakers, as well as some sort of processor and battery to power the entire device.
The video does not introduce this wearable device in detail. The glasses only have a simple black frame, which is quite different from the previous Google Glass, but it does not look very heavy.
