According to WHO statistics, approximately 200 million people globally suffer from visual impairment or vision disabilities. Unicorn company Oomii's research and development team has successfully incorporated laser visual assistance technology into AI+AR smart glasses. The product is set to receive FDA certification in the second quarter of this year and has already obtained patent certifications in multiple countries. Currently, it is under the guidance of a brokerage firm for listing on the innovation board, with a formal application expected by the end of the year. Several private equity funds have shown interest and are in negotiations. Oomii also plans to have the first-generation visual aid AR smart glasses customized and produced by the professional manufacturing company Show Yu Enterprise (6737). The product is expected to be launched in September, benefiting more visually impaired individuals.
Chen Taiguo, Co-founder and CEO of Oomii, stated that the vision-impaired AR smart glasses are designed to assist individuals with visual impairments in enhancing their vision. Particularly, for patients with visual impairments or retinal lesions, especially those with macular lesions, as long as they do not have damage to the optic nerve, these glasses can help them achieve a clearer and more accurate perception of the surrounding environment. This aids in addressing the inconveniences that patients face in their daily lives and work, ultimately restoring their work capabilities, self-esteem, and improving their overall quality of life.
Currently, the first-generation product primarily aims to provide assistive devices with good image quality. It is expected that by 2025, Oomii plans to offer a more advanced version. The visually impaired smart glasses, incorporating AI+AR technology, assist individuals with visual impairments in more accurately identifying their surroundings and nearby objects. This enhancement increases alertness and navigation capabilities. Furthermore, the glasses can store visual recordings in the cloud, utilize voice recognition, and operate the Internet of Things (IoT) directly, facilitating an improvement in patients' utilization and efficiency in both daily life and work. Oomii's laser retina imaging optical technology leads in this field, thoroughly meeting the visual acuity and realistic depth perception needs of individuals with visual impairments.
In addition, Oomii's specialized laser retina imaging system is strategically targeting three major application areas: AI+AR Smart Glasses for the Visually Impaired: Providing enhanced convenience in the daily lives of more visually impaired individuals through AI+AR smart glasses. AR 3D Navigation System with NDI Positioning: Combining NDI positioning systems with Oomii's head-mounted display, and an API system that accurately overlays 3D virtual and reality images onto surgical microscopes. This serves as an invaluable precision tool for surgeons in orthopedic minimally invasive medical procedures. Accelerating New Drug Development with MolRx System: Simultaneously advancing the MolRx software and hardware system to expedite new drug development. Utilizing AR 3D imaging coupled with a tactile feedback system can significantly save time in the drug development process.
