Meta Quest Link remains a key Quest feature, enabling our headsets to leverage the additional power of a Windows PC for computationally demanding use cases. In addition to being used by both consumers (for great PCVR gaming experiences like Asgard’s Wrath) and Quest for Business customers (to connect partner solutions like Adobe Substance 3D Modeler), it is a critical tool for developers creating content for Quest. Link enables developers to shorten iteration time, enabling them to immediately view changes made in development environments such as Unity and Unreal directly in Quest without compiling.
New Link PC Companion App
A brand-new PC application related to Meta Quest Link has now been launched. This application includes numerous bug fixes and enhancements. If you had previously installed the Oculus application on your PC, it will automatically update to the Meta Quest Link application.
120Hz Support
Link now supports a 120Hz refresh rate for PCVR games on Quest 3. To enable this feature, navigate to the "Devices" section in the Meta Quest Link application.
Select the headset for which you’d like to enable the higher refresh rate by clicking the [>] symbol next to the device name.
Scroll down and click on the Graphics Preferences section. You can now enable your preferred refresh rate.
Link Developer Settings Consolidation
To ease workflows for Quest developers, we’ve begun consolidating a number of Link-related settings under Quest Settings > Settings > Developer.
Link USB Auto Connect
To enable USB Auto Connect, navigate in your headset to Quest Settings > Settings > Developer and enable the USB Link Auto-Connect toggle. When this setting is enabled, your Quest headset will automatically start Link when you connect it to your PC via USB-C. This assumes that the Meta Quest Link app is installed on your PC and is running.
Spatial Data Privacy Control
We previously introduced Spatial Data Permission to our headsets and we are now also bringing this functionality to Link. This gives developers various controls over sharing spatial data via Link. As a result, developers need to enable the Spatial Data toggle in Settings to use Scene API over Link. All Scene-based apps need to have this permission enabled to ensure that your app continues working.
Support for nVidia 4000 Series GPUs
Link now supports nVidia 4000 Series GPUs. However users will encounter a blue compatibility warning banner when using nVidia 4070, 4060, 4050 GPUs - this is a transient error and does not affect usage.
Improvements in Battery Efficiency
We have reduced power consumption during Link sessions by approximately 30%. This should result in extended battery life during Air Link sessions, from 90min (1.5 hr) to about 140min (2hr 20min). USB Link should see similar results, although this depends on how much power the PC can provide.
These improvements to Meta Quest Link will help consumers, businesses, and developers maximize usability, performance, and functionality.
