On March 15, 2024, Xiaomi Mobile Software Co., Ltd. (referred to as "Xiaomi") and Ningbo LumiBlue New Materials Co., Ltd. (referred to as "LumiBlue") held the inauguration and unveiling ceremony of the "Xiaomi-LumiBlue OLED Key Materials and Devices Joint Laboratory" in Ningbo. The event was attended by several distinguished guests, including Huang Wei, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and pioneer of Chinese flexible electronics, Cao Yuhong, director of the Member Service and Technology Evaluation Center of the China Electronic Society, Wu Cangzhi, general manager of the Display and Touch Department of Xiaomi Mobile, Zhang Yan, chairman of Ningbo Jizhi Technology Co., Ltd., Chen Zhikuan, chairman, and Gu Xinzhu, general manager of Ningbo LumiBlue New Materials Co., Ltd., along with other invited dignitaries.
LumiBlue's chairman, Chen Zhikuan, warmly welcomed all the leaders and guests, stating: "LumiBlue is delighted to collaborate closely with Xiaomi. Through the Xiaomi-LumiBlue OLED Key Materials and Devices Joint Laboratory, we will leverage synergies across the OLED industry chain and focus on common key technologies in the OLED industry. By tackling technical challenges and bottlenecks in the OLED display industry, we aim to make our greatest contribution to accelerating the comprehensive advancement of China's OLED industry."
Wu Cangzhi, General Manager of Xiaomi's Mobile Display and Touch Department, stated: "Xiaomi's goal for the new decade is to invest heavily in fundamental core technology research and become a global leader in next-generation hardcore technology. Establishing the OLED Key Materials and Devices Joint Laboratory with LumiBlue will help solidify Xiaomi's fundamental technology in the field of display materials. The joint laboratory will focus on addressing pain points in the OLED industry, striving to break through technological barriers, continuously improve display product performance, and deliver a better display experience to consumers."
Academician Huang Wei, member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, founding figure in flexible electronics, and Chief Scientist of LumiBlue, offered three insightful suggestions for the development of the joint laboratory. Firstly, he emphasized the need to focus on enhancing technological innovation driving force, striving to create exemplary models of technological innovation with core competitiveness. Secondly, he highlighted the importance of enhancing industrial transformation leadership to help build exemplary national advanced manufacturing enterprises. Thirdly, he stressed the importance of enhancing innovation talent attraction, aiming to build exemplary models of talent cultivation in modern industrial systems. As Chief Scientist of LumiBlue, Academician Huang Wei will firmly support and promote the healthy operation and high-quality development of the joint laboratory. Through multiple innovation platforms, he will nurture more high-end innovative talents for the joint laboratory, accumulate more future high-tech reserves, and help the joint laboratory become a first-class OLED technology development center. This will facilitate the extraordinary and leapfrog development of OLED materials in various application fields.
The establishment of the Xiaomi-LumiBlue Joint Laboratory will further strengthen and deepen the cooperation between the two parties. They will fully leverage their respective technological and resource advantages to jointly tackle the technical challenges in the OLED display industry, promote innovation and development in OLED technology, accelerate the cultivation of new production forces for the high-quality development of China's electronics and information industry, and enhance the competitiveness of China's OLED industry.
