On April 2nd, Apple announced that starting later today, Apple Vision Pro will offer support for the beta version of Spatial Personas, thereby expanding the existing Persona functionality of Vision Pro.
9to5mac has reported that this feature will be rolled out later today to all Apple Vision Pro users with visionOS 1.1 or higher. Users will be able to see the Spatial Personas option during FaceTime calls, with support for up to 5 participants.
One of the key highlights of Vision Pro headsets is the Spatial Personas feature, which allows users to showcase their actions and body language against a transparent background. This enables users to move around, interact, collaborate, and engage in eye contact with other Vision Pro users, enhancing the realism and immersion of the experience.
The search reveals that the Spatial Personas feature was actually unveiled as early as WWDC 2023 last year, but Apple only released the usable beta version shortly before WWDC 2024.
Apple stated that the team is currently actively optimizing the mentioned feature, and in future updates of visionOS, Spatial Personas will become even more realistic.
