April 23rd news: The smart glasses Ray-Ban Meta, a collaboration between Meta and Ray-Ban, has received an update. This update brings deep integration with Apple Music, allowing users to enjoy the world of music more conveniently.
In the past, although users could listen to Apple Music through the built-in speakers of the Ray-Ban Meta, they needed to manually open the iPhone's music app to control playback. Now, with the update to the glasses firmware and the accompanying Meta View App, this operation has become much simpler.
After the update, users can directly link their Apple Music account to the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses. By saying "Hey Meta" to wake up the glasses' virtual assistant, they can use voice commands to play songs, playlists, albums, radio stations, or even works by specific artists. All operations can be completed hands-free, freeing up the hands.
In addition to voice control, this update also introduces a gesture feature. Users can simply tap and hold the leg of the glasses to play personalized radio stations recommended by Apple Music. Furthermore, a new voice command has been added that allows users to inquire about the currently playing song information on the glasses at any time. It's worth noting that Meta emphasizes the login to Apple Music is done through official APIs and will not share user credentials with any third parties, ensuring security and peace of mind.
Besides the deep integration with Apple Music, the latest firmware version (4.0) for the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses also adds compatibility with WhatsApp and Messenger. This means users can now use these smart glasses for video calls.
Ray-Ban Meta is another collaboration between Meta and Ray-Ban, following the Ray-Ban Stories. Users can capture photos and record videos by lightly pressing the button on the side of the glasses. Additionally, Ray-Ban Meta supports live video calls on Instagram and making phone calls.
Currently, the Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses are priced at $329 in the United States (approximately 2385 yuan RMB). They offer a variety of styles to choose from and also support custom prescription lenses.
