Recently, Blackmagic revealed on social media that they are cooperating with Apple to develop Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive, which is equipped with a pair of stereoscopic dual lenses, similar to Canon's two dual fisheye lenses. The latest APS-C lenses will be available this month.
According to reports, Blackmagic URSA Cine Immersive exceeds Canon's specifications to date, using a fixed custom lens system with a single-eye resolution of 8160 x 7200 and pixel-level synchronization. It also has an extremely wide 16-stop dynamic range and can shoot stereoscopic Blackmagic RAW Immersive files at 90 fps.
Obviously, Blackmagic intends to take the high-end route with this camera, and judging from the specifications, the processing link is not simple, and this camera is not suitable for ordinary people and part-time VR filmmakers.
In addition to the new camera, Blackmagic also announced an update to Davinci Resolve, allowing filmmakers to edit fully immersive VR movies.
